E-Bikes
Just to start with all the Bike types below also can come as E-Bikes. An E-bike is simply a small motor and battery fitted to the bike so the type of bike doesn't change. Ride further with less effort, an electric bike boosts your natural pedalling power to help you get the most out of your cycling adventure. Powerful Pedal Assist: E bikes have a motor that kicks in as soon as you start pedalling. This makes cycling easier especially when climbing hills. Different power modes allow you to choose how much extra help you want the bike to give you. UK electric bikes will assist you up to 15.5mph. Ride Further: Lithium-ion batteries give you plenty of range and are easy to charge. Higher-end electric bikes tend to have bigger batteries, but even a 300Wh battery will allow you to cycle up to 50 miles on the road. Arrive Feeling Fresh: The great thing about riding an electric bike is that you don’t have to have a full-on workout every time you cycle. Letting the motor do the work you can save your energy for that important meeting in the city or the next challenging decent on the MTB trails.
Road Bike
Blending speed and agility with lightweight and efficiency road bikes are the fastest way to cycle on tarmac. Fast and Efficient: When you are road biking you want to cycle quickly without wasting your energy. This is why every road bike has fast rolling wheels and tyres. The aerodynamic riding position reduces wind resistance so you can ride quickly and efficiently. Lightweight Frames: At the heart of a road bike is the lightweight frame with race inspired geometry. This is usually made from aluminium alloy or carbon fibre composite. As well as being lighter weight carbon road bikes offer a smoother, more comfortable ride. Women’s road bikes are similar to men’s road bikes but have a slightly different frame shape. Aero Components: Road bikes are characterized by the efficient aerodynamic riding position offered by the drop handlebars. It’s the fast rolling wheels and lightweight parts help to make road cycling faster.
Gravel Bike
Ride without limits on a rugged gravel bike, switching between smooth tarmac roads and rough gravel tracks to take your adventure further. These bikes are also known as adventure road bikes and sit somewhere between an endurance road bike and a cyclocross bike. The best of both worlds: Built for adventure gravel bikes combine the speed of a road bike with the rugged off-road capabilities of a mountain bike. Flat bar gravel bikes are a like traditional MTBs but faster. Wide tyres for off-road grip: The best gravel bikes have wide, high volume tyres to absorb the bumps on the trail without slowing you down too much on the road. Disc brakes offer confident stopping power in all conditions. Bikes for everyone: When you ride a gravel bike there is nothing to hold you back, you can ride rough forest tracks and canal paths just as easily as tarmac roads. We have a comprehensive range of women’s gravel bikes and men’s gravel bikes for sale.
Mountain Bike (MTB) - Full suspension
Full suspension mountain bikes make riding rough off-road trails easier and help you to push your limits when things get tough. What is suspension travel? The travel of a full suspension mountain bike refers to how much the suspension travel moves when it is compressed. More suspension travel will allow you to ride more challenging trails, but it makes these full suspension MTBs heavier and harder to ride up hill. How much travel do I need? Most riders will benefit from a full sus bike with 120 – 150mm of travel. This is the trail centre sweet spot. Less travel is great for lightweight cross-country riding while more travel is best for hard-hitting downhill trails. Are carbon full sus MTB frames better than alloy? Mountain bikes with full suspension are built around a carbon fibre or aluminium alloy frame. They are both strong and durable, but carbon is a little bit lighter. Ride quality is very similar as it’s the fork and shock that absorbs the bumps on the trail. Are cheap full suspension bikes any good? As a wise cyclist once said “lightweight, strong or inexpensive, choose two”. Fortunately, we don’t sell “cheap”, and all our full suspension bikes offer a high-quality ride.
Mountain Bike (MTB) - Hard Tail
Hardtail mountain bikes are the best way to start you off-road trail adventures. A hardtail mountain bike has front suspension and a fixed rear wheel. The suspension fork takes the sting out of the trails while the rear wheel is rigid for better-pedalling efficiency. Where can I ride an MTB hardtail? Built for riding cross country off-road trails and mountain bike tracks, hardtail MTBs also make great utility bikes as they are versatile enough to be ridden on the road too. What are the different types of hardtail bike? Hardtail bikes are available with different geometry and handling characteristics. Most hardtail MTBs are designed for recreational riding on single track trails. Hardtail trail bikes have a longer travel fork for taking on rougher tracks. Some aggressive hardtails are good for riding steep terrain. XC hardtails are built light for cross country racing.
Hybrid - Urban - Fun Bike
Hybrid bikes combine the efficient ride of a road bike with the stable handling and wide gear range of a mountain bike. Comfortable and Efficient: Perfect for practical and leisure cycling, hybrid bikes are comfortable while still rolling quickly and efficiently. Hybrid bikes for women include the very upright Dutch style hybrid classic bikes. Hybrid sports bikes offer efficient riding on tarmac, cycle paths and even off-road trails. Urban Hybrid Bikes: Urban hybrid bikes tend to be lightweight with ridged forks and fast rolling tyres. Mudguards and luggage racks make these bikes very practical. A great choice for city commuting. Mixed Terrain Hybrid Bikes: Taking the sting out of rough trails, hybrid bikes with a suspension fork are ideal for riding on mixed terrain. These bikes have wider treaded tyres than urban hybrids. This means that you have grip on unpaved tracks, but these bikes still roll relatively quickly on tarmac.
